This is the time of year we start thinking about any changes we would like to make in the New Year. And, lots of times, being “healthier” makes it on this list. But how do you know if you are making healthy choices? Dr. Shawna Eichens of Rockwood Natural Medicine Clinic joined me this week on The Successful #Soulopreneur Radio Show sponsored by Starshine Communities, to do some myth-busting and you just might be in for a few surprises. . .
Healthy or Not?
*Agave Nectar: No! It’s worse than high fructose corn syrup and really hard on our livers.
*Health Supplements: Maybe. Read the label and avoid those that include soy protein isolate or whey protein isolate.
*Spin Class: Depends. Can actually contribute to fat or weight gain or cortisol issues, glucose, insulin dysregulation.
* Essential Oil: If they are pure oil with no added perfume, which can be toxic to your system.
*Keto Diet: Maybe. Depends on your blood type.
Now this I found fascinating as I had never heard before that your diet should take into consideration your blood type. Dr. E shared that type A's do best with the lowest meat, even vegetarian, possibly vegan diet. Beef, lima beans, tomato, eggplant, and sweet potatoes should all be avoided for optimal health. Variety and balance are vital for blood type B. Shy away from foods that contain chicken, corn, wheat bread, soy, and lentils. Type O does well with high-quality animal protein such as lamb, beef, poultry, and fish with vegetables, a limited amount of grains and dairy and should avoid wheat, corn, soybean oil, peanut products, kidney beans, and most dairy products.
Bottom line. . . . read the ingredient label on any product you are putting in our on your body (including your laundry detergent!) and check in with yourself as to how you are feeling. According to Dr. E, the healthiest choices include nourishing food, hydration and rest. If you would like to learn how to make 2020 your healthiest year yet, connect with Dr. E today.
