Respect Yourself: You’re the best judge of what’s right for you.

Ok – on to one of my pet peeves. Respecting ourselves. Why, as women, do a lot of us look to others to judge what is right for us? Why are we afraid to trust ourselves? When we ask others “Do you think is the right choice for me?” and their answer is “No.” now what? Do you honor their choice or “disrespect” them and honor your own decision? For the record, sure, I think it is okay to seek others opinions and even value their input, but at the end of the day, you are the decision-maker and you are the best judge of what’s right for you. And, yes, sometimes you will be going against what others think.
So, be sure you know yourself. Take some time to really identify who you are and what is important to you. Then respect yourself. We all have had those times when we made decisions that intuitively we knew were wrong for us in deference to someone else, and what happens? I don’t know about for you, but EVERY time I went against my gut that decision came back to bite me! Either in the form of my attitude, my time or my energy. So no; not anymore. From now on, I will respect myself and make the best decision for me. Even if it means others may not be as supportive as I would like of my choice. At the end of the day, the only one that needs to be okay with my decision is me. And, the good news is, if my original decision is not working out, I can always give myself permission to change my mind. Yep! I like being the judge!
